Command Sergeant Major Darrell (Buddy) Wallace

CSM Darrell Wallace

CSM Wallace hails from Cleveland Ohio. He entered the United States Army on 1 April 1980 as a 35L, Avionics Communication Equipment Repairman. He completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

CSM Wallace's previous duty assignments include 210th Combat Aviation Battalion, 193rd Infantry Brigade, Panama; 5th Transportation Battalion, 222nd Aviation; 1SG, H Co 159th Aviation Regiment; 1SG, 8/101 Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (ASSLT); A Co, 2nd Battalion 39th Infantry Regiment, Fort Dix, New Jersey; 2nd Aviation Maintenance Company, 2ID, Camp Stanley, Korea; 1SG, B Co, 3rd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Camp Eagle, Korea; 1SG, C Co, 4th Battalion, 123rd Aviation Regiment, Fort Wainwright, AK; and CSM 4th Battalion, 123rd Aviation Regiment, Fort Wainwright, AK;. Battalion CSM 5/158TH, 12th Aviation Brigade, 1ST Armor Division; Brigade CSM, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1ID, Ft Riley, KS. He has deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia for OPERATION Restore Hope and Continue Hope; Kuwait in support of OPERATION Southern Watch; Pakistan as the TF CSM for Task Force Eagle, for earthquake relief; and to Iraq in support of OPERATION Iraqi Freedom OIF 1 and 07-09.

CSM Wallace has held various leadership positions ranging from Squad Leader through Brigade Command Sergeant Major. His duty experience also includes Technical Inspector, CBRN NCO, Safety NCO, Equal Opportunity Representative, Drug and Alcohol NCO, Master Fitness Trainer, and Basic Training Drill Instructor.

CSM Wallace's military training includes all required NCOES Courses from WLC to the Sergeants Major Academy class (53); Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Rappel Master Course; Safety Course; Equal Opportunity Representative Course; Master Fitness Course; Battle Staff Course; Jungle Expert Course; Aircraft Survivability Equipment Course (W6). He holds a Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management from Park University.

CSM Wallace's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (1 OLC); the Defense Meritorious Service medal; the Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC); the Army Commendation Medal (4OLC); the Army Achievement Medal (8OLC); the Good Conduct Medal 9th Award; the National Defense Service Medal (1BSS); the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (1BSS);the Iraq Campaign Service Medal (3BSS); the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; the Korean Defense Service Medal; the Humanitarian Service Medal; the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal ;the United Nation Service Medal (Somalia); the Army Valorous Unit Award; the Joint Meritorious Unit Award; the Drill Instructors Badge; the Master Crewmember Badge; the Air Assault Badge; the Airborne Badge; the Gold German Military Proficiency Badge; the Bronze Order of Saint Michael, and the Tribal Order of the Athapaskan. He is a Audie Murphy Member. CSM Wallace was selected as the Army Aviation Association of Americas (AAAA) Kangaroo Chapter NCO of the Year 1986.

CSM Wallace is currently serving as the Division Command Sergeant Major Rear for the 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.
