Safety Tips to Prepare for Motorcycle Season
1. Ensure up-to-date motorcycle training, including mandatory Basic Rider Course (BRC), Advanced Rider Course (ARC) within 12 months of BRC, ARC sustainment every five years, and Motorcycle Refresher Training (MRT) after deployments of 180 days or longer, all in accordance with AR 385-10.

2. Inspect and maintain riding gear, including ensuring helmets meet DOT standards, cleaning all gear thoroughly, and using protective equipment with padding, fluorescent colors, and retro-reflective material, while always wearing required PPE such as over-the-ankle footwear, long-sleeved clothing, and full-fingered gloves.

3. Clean your motorcycle by wiping it down to remove dust and debris accumulated over the winter.

4. Restock your saddlebags or backpack, especially replacing any used or expired items in your first aid kit.

5. Review your motorcycle's owner’s manual to reacquaint yourself with the bike.

6. Verify that your motorcycle insurance and registration are current and up-to-date.

7. Remember to obey traffic laws, as speeding and loss of control are primary causes of motorcycle mishaps, and speed limits are not suggestions.
Year of the Warrior Hype Video
March 25, 2025 | 0:46
The Big Red One Year of the Warrior is the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley’s program to recognize and honor the Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division, their relentless pursuit of excellence, and their commitment to warfighting mastery. The Big Red One has always led from the front—on the battlefield, in training, and in developing the next generation of warriors. First to the Fight! Milestones for the Year of the Warrior include the 81st D-Day Anniversary Ceremony, the 1st Division Monument commemoration in Washington D.C. and a guest speaker/leader professional development series. The Division will also focus on the Army’s 250th Birthday by competing in Army-wide competitions, because our fit, inspired, disciplined, trained and ready Soldiers strive for excellence in all that they do.
