"Durable" Brigade

The 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade is a sustainment brigade of the United States Army based at Fort Riley, Kansas. It provides logistics support to the 1st Infantry Division.

Activated in 2007, the unit is a modular brigade capable of a variety of actions. Though assigned to the 1st Infantry Division on a permanent basis, it is capable of independent operations and taking on subordinate units to fulfill large-scale sustainment operations for the United States Army.

Formed from the Division Support Command of the 1st Infantry Division, the Brigade carries the lineage and honors of the division dating back to World War I campaigns as early as 1917. Having also seen action in World War II, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War, the brigade has numerous awards and decorations from its previous designation. The brigade has also seen three tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

LEADERSHIP
Lt. Col. Ricardo Jones is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. Jones graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, and commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in December 2002. He completed the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course at Fort Lee, Virginia, in May 2003. His first duty assignment was 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.  There he served as a rigger platoon leader for 600th Quartermaster Company, Supply Support Activity Platoon Leader for 364th Quartermaster Company, and Company Executive Officer for 259th Field Service Company. LTC Jones was then assigned to a Military Transition Team serving as a Logistics Advisor for a Battalion MITT Team.  Upon completion of the MITT Team, Jones was assigned to 1st Theater Support Command serving as an Emergency Operations Center Battle Captain.  He was then selected to serve as the Aide de Camp to the 50th Quartermaster General BG (R) Jesse Cross.  Following his Aide de Camp assignment, Jones assumed command of 267th Quartermaster Company, 49th Quartermaster Group. Jones then attended the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course followed by Command & General Staff College.  Following CGSC, Jones served as a Battalion Executive Officer for 27th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division.  He was then assigned to serve as the Brigade Operations Officer for 4th Sustainment Brigade, 1st Calvary Division.  Following his Key and Developmental time at Fort Hood, Jones was assigned to the Army G4 Staff at the Pentagon where he served as the Military Assistant to the former Army G4 (Gen Gustave Perna).  Jones most recently served on the Joint Staff (J39) at the Pentagon as a Special Technical Operations Planner.
