Chief Warrant Officer Five Tony Nwafor is a native of Aberdeen Washington. After attending Basic Training at Fort Knox Kentucky in 2000, CW5 Nwafor graduated the Army Warrant Officer Candidate School and was appointed to the rank of WO1. He completed Initial Entry Rotary Wing training and obtained an advanced qualification as a UH-60A pilot in 2001.
Mr. Nwafor’s previous assignments include Brigade Aviation Safety Officer, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, Ft Riley, Kansas; Brigade Aviation Safety Officer, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, JBLM, Washington; Battalion Aviation Safety Officer, 2-158 Assault Helicopter Battalion, JBLM, Washington; Battalion Aviation Safety Officer, 3-1 Assault Helicopter Battalion, Ft Riley, Kansas; Company Aviation Safety Officer, 3-158 Aviation Regiment, Giebelstadt, Germany. His combat and operational experience includes three deployments to Afghanistan, two deployments to Iraq, and two EUCOM rotations.
His military education includes the Warrant Officer Senior Service Course, the UH-60 Instructor Pilot Course, the Aviation Safety Officer Course, and qualification courses in the UH-60M, UH-72, and UH-1.
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal - 4, the Air Medal with the “V” device, the Air Medal - 9, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, and the NATO Medal. Mr. Nwafor has also earned the Army Master Aviator Badge and the Combat Action Badge.
He is married to the former Ms. Alison Broten. They have a 27 year old daughter, Kassie, and a 22 year old son, Balen.
