CSM Clarence B. Raby

First Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Clarence B. Raby, a native of Sumter, South Carolina, entered the Army in 2001. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia where he was awarded the primary MOS of 92Y. His duty positions range from Armorer, Supply Sergeant, S3 Operations NCOIC, Battalion/Group S4 NCOIC, G4/J4 Sergeant Major. He’s held a myriad of leadership positions which include Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Detachment Sergeant, First Sergeant, Battalion Command Sergeant Major and currently serving as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major for 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kansas.

st Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR), 172nd Infantry Brigade, Ft. Richardson, AK; 2/377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment (PFAR), 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), Ft. Richardson, AK; Group Support Battalion (GSB), 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Ft. Bragg, NC; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Ft. Campbell, KY; United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Ft. Bliss, TX; Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, CO; and 4th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, CO. He deployed numerous times to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).

CSM Raby’s military and civilian education includes, but is not limited to, the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Company Level Pre-Command Course, United States Sergeants Major Academy (Class 68), Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course, Airborne School, Jumpmaster Course, Joint Logistics Course, Master Resilience Trainer, Contracting Officer Representative, and the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Non-Standard Logistics Course. He obtained an Associates and Bachelor of Science degrees in Multidisciplinary Studies from Grantham University.

CSM Raby’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3OLC); Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (1OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (4 CSS), Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 CSS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 5), NATO Medal (2), Master Parachutists Badge, and the Dutch Netherlands Foreign Parachutist Badge.

CSM Raby is married to Keyona Raby and they have four children- Kissan, Nykira, Clarence Jr., and Ahmiya.
