CSM Albert Turner

First Infantry Division Artillery Command Sergeant Major

CSM Albert V. Turner is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1997 as a Cannon Fire Direction Specialist (MOS 13E). He attended basic combat and advanced individual training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. CSM Turner served in many leadership positions including Section Chief, Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Observer/Coach/Trainer, First Sergeant, and Sergeant Major. His stateside assignments include Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Johnson, Louisiana, and Fort Bliss, Texas. His overseas assignments include Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Fort Shafter, Hawaii, and Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea (ROK). He most recently served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Battalion, 78th Field Artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. CSM Turner has also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

CSM Turner’s military education includes the Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School, Senior Leaders Course, Military Transition Team Course, Joint Collateral Damage Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, the Commander/First Sergeant Course, and Sergeants Major Academy (Class 71). His civilian education includes a high school diploma and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management from American Military University.

CSM Turner’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), the Meritorious Service Medal (7th award), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), the Army Achievement Medal (12th award), the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (9th award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), the NATO Medal, the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. 

CSM Turner resides in Fort Riley, Kansas with his wife, Chloe. They have two adult children, Kara and Ethan.
