CSM Jake “Huck” Huckleby

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jake “Huck” Huckleby is a native of Milford, Illinois. He enlisted in the Army in July 2000 and attended OSUT at Fort Knox, Kentucky to become an Armored Crewman.

During his Career, Huck served as a Command Sergeant Major, Operations Sergeant Major, J33/37 Senior Enlisted Advisor (SEA) USAFRICOM, Squadron Headquarters and Headquarters Troop First Sergeant, Cavalry Troop First Sergeant, J3 SEA USFOR-A, Scout Platoon Platoon Sergeant, Tank Platoon Platoon Sergeant, Section Sergeant, Tanker, and just a good old Cavalryman.

In addition to four combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operations Enduring Freedom; Huck has executed a tour in Korea, two tours in Deutschland, and 2 deployments in support of Operation, Ensure, Deter, Assure and Reinforce.

Huck has served with the following units: 3d Squadron, 4th SFAB Fort Carson, CO, 6th Squadron, 9th U.S. Cavalry Regiment Fort Cavazos, TX; 2nd Battalion, 1st SFAB Fort Moore, GA; J3 USAFRICOM, Stuttgart, DEU; 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, Fort Bliss, TX; G3 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Liberty, NC; 316 and 216 Cavalry Regiments, Fort Moore, GA; NCOA Fort Knox, KY; 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Cavazos, TX and Fort Carson, Colorado;  1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, Budingen, DEU; and 2nd Battalion, 72 Armor Camp Casey, ROK. His current assignment is 3d Squadron, 4th SFAB Fort Carson, CO.

Huck’s military and civilian education include European Security Studies George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies, School for Command Preparation, Senior Leaders Course (SLC), Advanced Leaders Course (ALC), Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Battle Staff Course and he is a graduate of Class 70 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.   Huck holds a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from UTEP and a Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Huck’s awards include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (5th Award), Joint Service Accommodation Medal, Army Accommodation Medal (4th Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Bronze Service Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (4 Bronze Service Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (7th Award), NATO Medal (2nd Award),  Volunteer Service Medal, Hollands Medal for Marching, Combat Action Badge, Airborne Badge, Air Assault Badge, Silver and Gold Spurs, Audie Murphy, Orders of Saint Maurice (Centurion) and Saint George (Bronze).

Huck is married to Sarina G. Huckleby from Giddings, Texas. They have three kids: Daughter Ashland Elizabeth (17), Lenny Gail (8), and Son Bradley Mattis (6).
