CSM Joseph Liverar

First Infantry Division 1st Combat Aviation Brigade Command Sergeant Major

CSM Joe Liverar was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  In 1997, he enlisted into the United States Army and attended Basic Training at Fort Benning Georgia where he was awarded the MOS of 11B, rifleman.  Upon completion of his initial enlistment contract, he reclassed to 15S, OH-58 Kiowa Warrior Helicopter Maintainer. 

His previous assignments include the 3rd U.S.    Infantry The Old Guard, Fort Meyer VA; 4th   Squadron 7th Cavalry, Camp Stanton Korea; 404th Aviation Support Battalion, Fort Hood TX; 1st Squadron 10th Calvary, Fort Hood TX; 3rd Staff and faculty at Fort Eustis VA; 3rd Brigade Recruiting Command, Ottumwa IA; 4th Squadron 6th Cavalry, Joint Base Lewis McChord WA; 1_145th Aviation Battalion, Fort Rucker AL; 1-3rd Attack  Reconnaissance Battalion, Katterbach Germany; 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, Katterbach Germany and most recently 21st Theater Support Command, Panzer Kaserne Germany as the Support Operations Sergeant Major, and the Command Seargent Major for the 46th Aviation Support Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
  
CSM Liverar’ s operational experience include combat, NATO, joint and humanitarian. 

CSM Liverar’ s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Senior Leader Course, U.S. Army First Sergeant Course, Instructor Course. U.S. Army Recruiting Course.  He is a graduate of U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 69.

His Awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), Army Commendation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (7th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (9th award), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (1 bronze star),   Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal (2nd award), Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award), Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Recruiter Badge (Gold), The Order of St Michael, and The Order of St Maurice.

CSM Liverar is married to the former Gina Schweitzer and together they have two daughters, Madeline, and Alexandra.
