CSM Michael Gossman

First Infantry Division 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team Command Sergeant Major

CSM Michael Gossman is a native of Michigan and enlisted in the United States Army in 2001 as a Combat Engineer. He has served in numerous leadership positions including Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeants Major, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major of the 9th EN BN, Fort Stewart, GA.
 
His assignments include, Charlie, 588th Engineer Battalion, Echo, 3-67 Armor Battalion, Echo, 1-66 Armor Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Cavazos, Texas; Alpha Company, 3-1 Special Troops Battalion, 3IBCT, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Cavazos, Texas; Alpha Company, 3-1 Special Troops Battalion, 3IBCT, Fort Knox, Kentucky; HHC, MSCOE, 14th Military Police Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Bravo, 3-10 Infantry Battalion, 3rd Chemical Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood Missouri; HHBN, DIVARTY, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; HHBN, DIVARTY, 1st Infantry Division; HHC, 2ABCT, 1st Infantry Division, and the 9th Engineer Battalion, 2ABCT, 3rd Infantry Division. He has deployed twice to Iraq and three times to Afghanistan in support of combat operations.
 
CSM Gossman completed all levels of NCOES and graduated from the Sergeants Major Academy, Class 72. He is a graduate of the University of Charleston, with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership, and a Bachelors in Leadership and Work Force Development through the Command and General Staff College. 
 
His awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Accommodation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award (1 OLC), Meritorious Unit Award (2 OLC), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3 Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), NATO Medal (ISAF), Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Driver’s Badge, Mechanic Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Bronze, Order of the Dragon Medal (CBRN), and the Bronze De Fleury Medal (Engineer).
 
CSM Gossman resides with his wife Cheyenne and their two children, son Tyler (19) and daughter Taylor (17).
