COL Eric Megerdoomian

First Infantry Division 1st Combat Aviation Brigade Commander

Colonel Eric Megerdoomian was commissioned as an aviation officer through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, on September 15, 2001.

Throughout his career, COL Megerdoomian has held various key command and staff positions, including Squadron Commander, Special Mission Wing J3/J5, Afghanistan/Pakistan Hand, Observer Coach and Trainer, and Deputy Director of the Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization (DES). His assignments include service with the 1st Cavalry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 4th Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division, United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence, and the National Training Center.

COL Megerdoomian’s military education includes the Defense Language Institute (Dari), Command and General Staff College, Air Cavalry Leaders Course, and the Army War College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from California Polytechnic State University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

As a Master Aviator with over 3,600 flight hours, COL Megerdoomian is qualified as a Pilot in Command for the OH-58A/C and LUH-72, and as an Instructor Pilot for the AH-64E and Mi-17. He is also a Rotary Wing Certified Flight Instrument Instructor (CFII) and holds an Airplane Instrument Private Pilot certification.

COL Megerdoomian’s awards include two Bronze Star Medals, eight Meritorious Service Medals, an Air Medal with Valor, four additional Air Medals, the Combat Action Badge, the Master Aviator Badge, and other decorations consummate with his time in service.

Colonel Eric Megerdoomian resides in Fort Riley, Kansas, with his wife of 12 years, Camay, and their two daughters, Mila (age 11) and Nicole (age 9).
