RELEASE NO. 23-002
BOLESLAWIEC, Poland – The 1st Infantry Division conducted a transfer of authority with the 4th Infantry Division during a ceremony held here, Feb. 7.
During the Big Red One’s 22-month deployment along NATO’s Eastern flank, the division participated in bilateral and multinational exercises, including Defender 22, one of the largest ground exercises in Europe, building readiness and interoperability with NATO Allies and partners.
Throughout the Big Red One’s deployment, twelve Army brigades were operationally assigned to 1ID under U.S. Army V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe. These brigades conducting training exercises throughout Eastern Europe, the Baltics, Finland and Sweden as U.S. Soldiers stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our Allies and partners.
As the 1st Infantry Division redeploys from Eastern Europe it begins its next chapter – The Big Red One Year of the NCO - an initiative that honors the hard work, dedication, and legacy of the NCO Corps.
