Bomb Technicians Travel to Fort Riley for Olympics Style Competition

FORT RILEY, Kan. – The 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley is hosting the annual “Best Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team Competition” March 06-10 as nine of the world’s most formidable bomb technician teams compete for a chance to compete at the Department of the Army level competition later this year.

The teams compete in various events all over Fort Riley, testing their physical and mental toughness and ability to work as a team.

Countries participating in the competition include Canada, Brazil, Tunisia, United Kingdom, Peru, Colombia, and Argentina. U.S. teams include the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley’s 79th Ordnance Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington’s 3rd Ordnance Battalion, and Fort Carson, Colorado’s 242nd Ordnance Battalion.
