The Big Red One Year of the NCO is the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley’s program to further develop our NCO Corps and recognize their contributions, both personal and professional, to the 1st Infantry Division. The Big Red One recognizes the importance of our NCO Corps. NCO’s education, fitness and leadership development are enhanced through 1st Infantry Division initiatives and events. We recognize our NCO’s commitment to service and their willingness to make sacrifices on behalf of our nation. Big Red One NCOs are the pride of the First Infantry Division.

Saved Lives
19th Public Affairs Detachment

U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Manley, a combat medic specialist, 1st Infantry Division Army Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) fusion directorate, helped save over 10 lives in a car accident on July 14, 2023. Manley relied on his military training to be able to assess and treat the injured and control the situation until the paramedics arrived.
