The Big Red One Year of Legacy is the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley’s 2026 initiative to honor the enduring heritage, storied history, and lasting impact of the Soldiers who have served—and continue to serve—in America’s First Division. The Year of Legacy recognizes the sacrifices, achievements, and traditions forged by generations of Soldiers whose commitment to excellence and warfighting mastery has defined the Big Red One for more than a century.

From World War I to today’s complex operational environments, the Big Red One has always led from the front—on the battlefield, in training, and in developing leaders who carry forward the Division’s proud legacy. First to the Fight!
