The 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley executes the Year of the Warrior during 2025 to recognize the Division’s individual soldiers, their skills, warfighting mastery, and enhanced lethality.

YEAR OF THE WARRIOR

The Big Red One Year of the Warrior is the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley’s program to recognize and honor the Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division, their relentless pursuit of excellence, and their commitment to warfighting mastery. The Big Red One has always led from the front—on the battlefield, in training, and in developing the next generation of warriors. First to the Fight! Milestones for the Year of the Warrior include the 81st D-Day Anniversary Ceremony, the 1st Division Monument commemoration in Washington D.C. and a guest speaker/leader professional development series. The Division will also focus on the Army’s 250th Birthday by competing in Army-wide competitions, because our fit, inspired, disciplined, trained and ready Soldiers strive for excellence in all that they do.

USAF, ROKAF and USN F-35s integrate during FS25

U.S. Air Force and Republic of Korea Air Force F-35A Lightning IIs joined a U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II for integration training during Freedom Shield 25, Mar. 13, 2025. During the training the F-35C, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 97, integrated with two U.S. F-35As assigned to the 134th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron and two ROKAF F-35As assigned to the 17th Fighter Wing, conducting a combined operation in support of FS25. The event highlighted the capability of U.S. and ROK forces to seamlessly integrate air, ground and maritime operations, reinforcing their enhanced combined defense posture.
